Emmanouil Bitsakis was born in 1974 in Athens. He studied Painting in the Athens School of Fine Arts (1996-2001) with Professor Chronis Botsoglou. In 2001, he received a scholarship from the Danish Institute of Athens and moved to Copenhagen, where he lived and painted. In 2002, he won the First Prize for Painting at the 1st SEECP Miniature Art Exhibition, which was organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki.
His works have been qualified and presented in two exhibitions of the event BP Portrait Award, which was held in London's National Portrait Gallery (2007 and 2008). He was also awarded the BP Travel Award for 2008 for China. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions in France, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Turkey and the USA.
In 2009, a pocket-size monograph of his work was published. He lives and works in Athens.
